Welcome to Laurel Highlands Therapeutic Academy

The staff of Laurel Highlands Therapeutic Academy (LHTA) is convinced of the value of massage in the therapeutic process, therefore, the Academy is committed to providing the highest quality of instruction in the theory and techniques of therapeutic massage. Because we recognize and appreciate the individuality and uniqueness of each person, our goal is to assist each student to: develop his or her own potential, achieve a maximum level of competency, and explore the numerous career options available as a Massage Therapist.

Licensing and Affiliations


Laurel Highlands Therapeutic Academy is licensed by the Pennsylvania State Board of Private Licensed Schools. The school is a member of the Cambria County Chamber of Commerce and the Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals.

Interested in taking classes? At LHTA our course is designed to get you on the fast track to working as a Massage Therapist. We have one program - Therapeutic Massage - this allows us to keep our tuition affordable. Each class holds a maximum of 14 students which allows for individual attention throughout your training.

Is it time for you to get a massage? The therapists at LHTA are primarily Student Interns who have completed (a minimum of) 400 training hours prior to accepting clients in our clinic. Therapists are supervised by a LHTA instructor at all times. Instructors are also available to accept clients around their class schedules, call for rate information.

Reflexology Workshop
Reflexology is a science which deals with the principle that there are reflex areas which correspond to all of the glands, organs and parts of the body.  This two day, 10 hour, workshop will teach you how to find and address these areas on the hands, feet and ears.

Date: September 20th and 22nd
Time: 9:30am to 3:30pm
Cost: $200

Workshop is open to the public although preference is given to Massage Therapists who need Continuing Education Credits.  Laurel Highlands Therapeutic Academy is an Approved Provider through the NCBTMB and this workshop is considered 10 contact hours.

'SAVE YOUR HANDS!' Workshop

Earn 6 CEUs as you learn hands-on, practical techniques and tips to reduce fatigue and discomfort, prevent musculoskeletal injury and extend your career. Attendees learn to reduce the physical demands of their work on their own bodies while still providing a thorough hands-on treatment to their clients. Workshops are available for professionals and students.

Combining lecture and discussion with fun, innovative activities and plenty of hands-on practice, the workshops are taught in an informal style that encourages active participation. Attendees come away from the workshop with an excellent overview of ergonomics and injury prevention principles, and a self-care action plan including changes they will make to their practice based on what they have learned.

Date: Sunday April 17th, 2011  (Sunday was the day requested by therapists to fit with their work schedules)

Time: 10:00am to 5:00pm

Cost: $155 for 6 CE credits (early registration rate - $175 after April 11th!)
